August 9 — International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

Indigenous peoples carry the Earth's living memory. Their knowledge, traditions, and ways of caring for nature protect biodiversity, regulate the climate, and inspire new ways of living in balance with the planet.

According to the UN, approximately 70 million Indigenous people worldwide depend directly on forests for their livelihoods and well-being. In Brazil, they are guardians of territories essential to global climate balance and the construction of a regenerative future.

Recognizing their leading role means understanding that there are no lasting solutions to the climate crisis without listening to and respecting their voices.

Today, we invite you to watch an excerpt from @jennyfferbransfor 's talk during the panel on the relationship between the city and the forest “Drawings of an ancestral future: rethinking urban environments.

May this message inspire us to act to guarantee rights, preserve cultures, and value the humanity and strength of indigenous peoples.
